Phlilps’ Light Blossom is a hybrid solar and wind powered LED luminaire concept that looks right at home on an extraterrestrial planet. The design echoes that of a blooming flower. During the daytime the “petals” open up exposing the integrated solar panels the sun while tilting to optimum angle. While the presence of wind causes the assembly to rotate and generate additional electricity. During the evening the petal then close and the LEDs embedded on the underside produce light when it detects the presence of people.
